The concentration
Why Extrait de Parfum
Perfumes are sold in different concentrations, and the concentration decides how a fragrance feels. Eau de toilette is light and short-lived. Eau de parfum is fuller. Extrait de Parfum sits at the top: the most concentrated, and the richest.
With more fragrance oil in every drop, an Extrait wears deeper and closer to the skin. It does not shout across a room. It is meant to be discovered up close, and to stay with you. Every Decarose fragrance is made as an Extrait de Parfum for exactly that reason.

Three stages, one fragrance
A fragrance unfolds in stages as it warms on your skin.
Top notes
The first impression. Light and bright, they appear as soon as you spray and fade within minutes.
Heart notes
The character of the fragrance. They emerge as the top notes settle and carry the scent through the middle hours.
Base notes
The foundation. Deep and slow, they linger longest and are what remains on your skin and clothes at the end of the day.
The process
From idea to bottle
Composing
Every fragrance begins as a composition: a balance of top, heart and base notes chosen to work together and to change gracefully on the skin over the hours. Nothing is added without a reason, and anything that does not earn its place is taken out.
Blending
The chosen oils are measured and blended carefully. Because Extrait de Parfum carries a high proportion of perfume oil, precision matters. Small differences in the balance are easy to smell, so each blend is checked against the composition before it moves on.
Resting
A fresh blend needs time. Resting allows the different components to settle and marry into one another, so the fragrance smells like a single, rounded scent instead of separate parts. Good perfume is not rushed.
Filling and finishing
Once the blend is ready it is filled into the bottle, fitted with its crystal-cut cap and gold collar, and checked by eye. Each bottle is then placed in its gift box, finished with a gold-foil monogram.

The bottle and the box
Each fragrance is held in a faceted glass bottle with a crystal-cut cap and a polished gold collar, so the colour of the fragrance is the first thing you see.
The gift box is matte black, finished with the Decarose monogram in gold foil. It is made to be given, and to be kept.

How to wear and care for your fragrance
Apply to pulse points
The wrists, the sides of the neck and behind the ears are warm areas that help the fragrance open up.
Start with a little
An Extrait is concentrated. One or two sprays is enough, and you can always add more.
Do not rub
Rubbing the wrists together crushes the top notes and can change how the fragrance develops. Let it dry naturally.
Moisturised skin helps
Fragrance clings better to hydrated skin, so a light unscented moisturiser beforehand can help it last.
Store it away from light and heat
Keep the bottle in its box in a cool, dark place. Heat and sunlight age perfume faster.
Keep the cap on
Closing the bottle after each use protects the fragrance from air.

What is Extrait de Parfum?
Extrait de Parfum, also called parfum, is the most concentrated form of perfume. It contains a higher proportion of fragrance oil than eau de parfum or eau de toilette, which gives a richer, deeper scent that stays close to the skin and needs only a little to be noticed.
What size are Decarose bottles?

How should I store my perfume?
Keep the bottle in its box or in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight, heat and damp bathrooms. Stored well, a fragrance keeps its character for longer.
